I get an error message when setting up office 97

Hi David,

Yes, not all workarounds work all of the time
and sometimes the Web Authoring Tools from Office 97
could get a bit stuck on their own and needed some
extricating before anything else would work.

There was also a pre SR2 issue with certain policies
being in place.

It's possible that there is some other common factor
that may be playing into this, from temp files to
left over .STF files (Office 97 used acmesetup rather
than MSI).

For some reason that doesn't work on all computers and mine is one of
them, I tried it quite some time back and found it didn't make a bit of
difference, I still couldn't install Office 97 and wound up having to
install Office XP in order to have Office installed with all the
features I wanted.

One other work around is to remove SP2, install Office and update it
and then re-install SP2 but, personally, I think the only guaranteed
fix for all computers is to get a newer version of Office, either MSFT
or OO.

Just wondering where you saw Office XP for $0.00 because that is right in my
price range
