i have a letter stuck on my word saved it and now it wont go away.

I have a letter on my word that is stuck there. I saved it and went to do
another document and when I opened my word program the last letter was still
there how do I get rid of it so it doesn't come up in documents all the time
it is annoying. I can't use word unless I select all and clear my screen.
Please anyone help me
