I have a question about sending out a newsletter.

Sandy P

I have noticed recently that emails that contain several names in the
distribution list often end up in my spam folder. We are about to distribute
our consulting firm's email newsletter and I don't want the newsletter to end
up in our client's spam folder.

Is there an optimum number of recipients that I could/should use to avoid
this problem.

Please advise.

How your client's determine what is or is not spam is entirely in their
control. Nothing to do with the number of emails you send. At minimum,
tell you clients you are sending them email, ask their permission (or at
least give them the option to opt out), and remind them that if they
don't get your email, for them to check if their spam filter filtered it
out.

Also get familiar with how to avoid your email looking like spam. E.g.
use plain text, not HTML, keep it simple, and don't use attachments.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

The optimum number of recipients is exactly 1. A message sent directly to
the recipient is more likely to be viewed as legitimate rather than spam.
Mail merge is preferable to DLs for this reason.
