I HAVE M/WORKS HOW CAN I OPEN WORD DOCUMENTS ON MY COMPUTER

I have a home computer that has microsoft works 7.0 but at work we use
microsoft office word / excel i am unable to open any documents i send
between these two computers that are of work / word origin is there any way
of changing this or do I have to purchase microsoft office for my home as
well ?? Thanks
