I have MS Office 2003 It wont highlight cells to copy & paste

I have MS Office 2003. I work mostly in Excel and all of a sudden it will not
let me highlight a range of cells to copy and paste to another workbook.
This is not limited to Excel, I have found I cannot do it Word or Outlook
also.
