I have registered Office, but I still can't get in Word

One of my employees is able to open and run his Excel program. He went in
to Word this morning and was unable to get it to open. I'm afraid he didn't
register it and ignored the amount of uses he could use before it became
limited. Now he can't access it when he needs to. He say's there's no spot
for him to enter a key code now.
How can I get this so he can get the key code entered and start over
again. He's 700 miles away from me so it's hard for me to understand from up
here.
Thanks!!

The individual Office applications don't need to be activated
separately. For example, if the user activates Excel 2003, then
the remaining Office 2003 applications installed on that computer
are automatically activated at the same time.

If the user activated Office, then when the user starts Word or
Excel and clicks on Help | Activate Product, a dialog box will
appear that says, "This product has already been activated", and
there will not be a place to enter the product key.

I don't think the Word startup problem is related to activation.
