I KNEED HELP!! with mail merge

I can successfully type in as many clients as I need to, and then i'll save
the program on the desktop. When I go to retreive the mail merge document
from the desktop there are two options that appear. One is a windows
document that i can enter into and i have no idea what the other one is. Can
anyone help?

Also, sometimes if i save it and i come back the next day I can't open it
again. I have all these boxes pop up telling me that the computer doesn't
know which document to open it with. I need lot's of help!!!!

BTW, have you checked Help that comes with your software???
