You mean if you close PowerPoint and restart it, then click the arrow at the
top of the task pane next to "Getting Started," Custom Animation isn't the
next-to-last item in the list?

If that's indeed the case, then you might try Help|Detect and Repair.

Oh, wait. Do you mean you're in the custom animation task pane and one of
the animations is missing? If so, you may have deleted it. This can happen
if you select a row in the custom animation task pane and select Remove from
the dropdown list or hit Delete on your keyboard.

If neither of these is the issue, then you'll have to provide more detail.

First, please turn off your caps lock. It implies shouting.

To restore your animation, you will have to recreate it. Select the object
you want to animate, and if the custom animation task pane isn't already
opened, right-click the object and choose Custom Animation to open it. Then
click the Add Effect button and choose an Exit, Emphasis or Entrance
animation -- and then choose the type of animation (fade, fly, etc.) from
the fly-out menus.

To refine your animation make choices in the top of the task pane -- start
on click, with previous, after previous; direction if available (e.g., fly
from bottom, from top, from left, from right, etc.); and speed. Or
double-click the animation in the task pane to open the Effects dialog box,
where you can do even more refinements.

to animate and right click and choosing custom animation the task appered
on the
on the the side of the screen but it imposible to activate the add effect
botton because
the menu is gray(inactive)
AS I DESCRIBED I LOST MY CUSTOM ANIMATION ROW IN THE TASK PAN IN MY

You may have turned the new animations off. Go to Tools|Options|Edit and
uncheck the option at the bottom to disable new animation effects.

This is a bit strange. If the new animations were already enabled
(unchecked) under Tools|Options|Edit, then check the three boxes there and
close PPT. Then reopen PPT and uncheck the boxes. See if PPT works correctly
then.
