I made a mistake and was surprised by Word not responding

I am very aware the proper way to incorporate a text file (NotePad)
into a Word document is to Insert it.
However, in a senior moment I tried to copy the file and then paste it
in the document and was surprised when Word stop responding. I had to
use the Task Manager to close it.

Is it normal for that to happen? It would seem Word would issue some
sort of warning or something.

Thanks for letting me share this embarrassment.

Hi Jack,

Normally Word should not have an issue pasting text
from Notepad.

If you use Start=>Search and delete all files found with
~$*.*;*.tmp, then start Word, start a new blank document
and paste from Notepad do you still have the problem?

Thank you very much, Bob.

That took care of the problem as well as reminded me of a neglected
housekeeping chore I used to do periodically.

My guess is some other minor weird things will disappear too.

Thanks again.
