I'm new to excel, so this is probably very easy to most...

I am trying to find the sum of a row of cells (b24:m24) and instead of
giving me the sum it gives me 1E+06. What does this mean?? Why won't it give
me the sum?

You posted in a newsgroup for Microsoft Access database program.
Better ask these questions in an Excel forum.

You either applied a specific format, or your column is too narrow and
Excel tries to do the next best thing.

You posted this Excel question in a Microsoft Access newsgroup - the webpage
can be confusing and may have misled you. Scroll down the list of subject
areas to find the numerous Excel forums.

To answer your question, though - 1E+06 is "Scientific Notation" for 1 * 10 to
the power of 6, e.g. 1000000. Excel will display numbers in scientific
notation if the column isn't wide enough to show the entire number (so you can
at least get SOME idea of how big the number is). Make the column wider or use
a smaller font to see the actual number.

You're asking in the wrong place. This newsgroup is for the database software
Microsoft Access - not for email programs.

Please scroll down the list of subjects and find a group for your program. It
would help if you were to specify the name and version of the software you are
using to read your email when you do find an appropriate forum.
