i need my word to open in the default way

a friend working on my pc made some changes to the word
2k document file. now when i open word application i get a
page with borders, more like a single cell table. also the
toolbar on the bottom left corner to select between
different layouts (normal, web layout or print) is missing.

i tried winword.exe \a and the new document that opens
after this command is perfectly normal. but if i close
this and open word from start, programs it again gives
this frame.

i also tried deleting the normal.dot file but makes no
difference.

how do i reset my word document to get my previous default
page.

Actually, since sphilip has already tried deleting Normal.dot, the relevant
answer here is http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/SaveViewAndZoom.htm. I
believe Word is opening in Web Layout view, which in Word 97 and apparently
2000 doesn't display the horizontal scroll bar in that view. It is still
possible to change views using the View menu. Quitting and restarting Word
after changing the view should do the trick, but if it doesn't, the method
described in the cited article should force its hand.
