Rhonda,
This is just a guess -- I suspect that you posted the message here
because your friend emailed you an Access database file (*.mdb or *.mde
format), and you can't open it. Unlike PowerPoint files, Access files
pretty much require you to have a copy of MS Access (and it's definitely
not free of charge). If so, you might ask your friend to extract the
parts that interest you, and send those.
What I often do in cases like this (and you'll probably need to ask
your friend to do something like it) is to create a Query in Access that
displays the information you want to see. Display it in Datasheet View
(looks like an Excel spreadsheet), use control-A to select everything on
the Datasheet and control-C to copy it all to the Windows Clipboard.
Then open a new text file in Notepad and use control-V to paste all the
copied stuff to the new file. Save the file with a suitable name.
Your friend can do all this for each set of data that might be of
interest, and then email the text files to you. It's not as flexible as
an Access database, of course, but then it's also much cheaper to use.
