Our company has an sm symbol , a Service Mark and I am unable to find it in

I don't know what symbol you are referring to but have you tried
the option Unicode hex in insert symbol? You might also want to
have a look at the entries under Unicode in Wikipedia where
there are things not shown by Insert Symbol. I think the Unicode
Smiley that is produced by Word autocorrect is one of these. The
symbols can be inserted with (four digit hex code)ALT-X

You got me interested and I went to www.unicode.org where I
discovered that the so-called "service mark" is Unicode 2120 and
thus can be gotten in Word by 2120 ALT+x. Googling on Unicode
service mark will also get the answer.

I trired the ALT + 2120 on the keypad, there is a change in the registry
necessary, HKEY_CUURENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\INPUT METHOD and added a new
string value to use the keypad I was still unable to create. Maybe I am not
using the correct sequence of keystrokes. The fonts that have the symbol SM
imbedded are not free. Dialog.bold, LucidaSans, a few more. Thank you for
your help.

Hi there!

The sequence is simply to type 2120 in Word and then immediately
follow it with ALT+x. Don't insert any spaces. I'm not sure I
understand the mechanics of Word's choice of font for the symbol
but, when typing in Arial the font changes to MS Gothic for the
symbol and in Times New Roman MS Mincho is used. These are
standard fonts, I believe.

You can experiment with various fonts by going to Insert Symbol
and, in the from box, choosing Unicode Hex. If the font contains
the service mark you will be able be able to see it by typing
2120 in the character code box. There is a minor problem of the
ALT+x method that I cannot solve directly in that the font does
not revert automatically and will stay in Gothic or Mincho.
However, if you set up autocorrect to replace something like
(sm) or ~s or whatever you like with the service mark the
correct font is retained.

Good luck!

I'd probably just type SM and superscript it.
