I need to filter on input variable in merge

I need to set up a word document with a variable that the user imputs
(a date) and this should be used in a mail merge to pull the recordset
for the document.

Can anyone help me out?

I have it so it will pull the recordset if I just filer based on the
drop down in the merge wizard, but the user needs to be able to do this
on the fly and they will not be good for too complex of thinking.

What I really want is for the word doc to prompt for Meeting date when
the user opens the doc and then populate based on that.

It there a way?
