I now get reminders for all email (read or otherwise) when I open

I had a virus and when system was cleaned, I now have an issue when opening
outlook 2000 (update to 2003 to be done later), but for now, when I
send/recieve, i now am bombarded with notifications for each email I recieve
as well as every email I have opened previously.
I do not have any 3rd party apps installed for this either.
system is laptop, xp, office ,etc.
Help is greatly appreciated.

Turn email notifications off.

Tools > Options > E-mail options > Advanced E-mail options
