i open an html file from webdev folder ,its opens in word.why?

I ahve a webfolder , where i have all my html files when i open that html
file it prompt me for username and password . After entering the appropraite
entry it opens my html page in microsoft word . I checked the extension. I
guess its just doing word webpage property. How can i switch it off. How can
i open my html page on other browser. All other files on my Desktop is
working just fine. Its just Webdev folder I am having trouble with

Nowt to do with Word. It would help to know which OS you were using and Word
if this was a Word problem.

But go to Control Panel, Internet Options, Programs tab and set your browser
as the default for html pages.
