I try to update my word xp and get a message "no updates for Mac

I have a registered version of Microsoft Office XP Professional, and have
installed all the updates todate. I went to the site today to check for
updates, and when I clicked on "check for updates" it comes back with "sorry
the office update site does not support Office for Mac" I am running Windows
XP SP2 with all the updates.
I have never had this problem before. I went to the Office update site
because Word had kicked me out three times, and I sent the error message to
Microsoft, and they returned the message that there was a new update
available for my version and to download it to see if it would solve the
problem

Also, I have tried shutting off Norton antivirus, the only firewall I have
running is in Windows XP and I do not get the message "Warnig you are viewing
this page with an unsupported web browser". PLEASE HELP
