I want to limit two cells to equal five when added together

I'm having others fill out a survey using excel - I want to limit the
parameters of their answers in two cells. These two cells, when added
together, must equal 5 or they cannot move forward in the survey. How do I
do this?

If the 2 values must equal 5 then why not just have them enter 1 value and
you calculate the other? They enter a Value in Cell A1 and Cell B1 has the
formula
=5-A1

Otherwise this can be done with custom validation but now you are requireng
the user to do the math that you can easily calculate yourself.
