I am designing a poster to demonstrate a research project that I have been
doing. I want to include picture and writing. How would I go about making
this poster only using one power point slide?

How big do you want to make the poster? Just design your 1 page as normal,
then tell powerpoint to "scale to fit" to your poster printer.
