I want to use my calendar like a paper one

How can I make misc entries in each date on the calendar like the ones I used
to scribble to myself on my paper desk top calendar i.e. hours worked, etc

Create an appointment and put notes in the notes field? Use the journal with
a day/week/month view?

Short of getting a tablet, the closest I can think is this:
1. Create a table view for the calendar (view \ current view \ define views
\ new \ [[[from here you can accept the defaults]]] \ name it TableView | OK
| OK
2. apply the table view (view \ current view \ TableView)

The default for the table view is to let you type in the cells at the top of
the view to create items. It would look like a very regimented line - by -
line calendar planner, but is close to what you want. Give it a shot.
