Thanks for the help in advance
it is 2007 Outlook
this is what I m doing:
I receive an email
I want to save it (anywhere) desktop my doc's etc... - so I say I save it to
my desktop
so I hit save as
it defaults to an HTML file
then when I to my desktop - I see the file as a Microsoft Word file - great
- however,
it has also created a folder which is the name of the file I saved _ files
when I open that there are 4 files in there - that are XML files and JPEG's
- complete junk - have nothing to do with my original file
so I delete that folder - in the meantime my actual file that I have saved
(the word file) deletes as well

I know this sounds convulded - I hope I am explaining myself correctly - I
am assuming there is just setting that is not correct???

Thanks again

Well naturally. You're saving it as a web page, so all the pictures and
stuff have to go somethere. Windows creates a separate folder for the
objects that are embedded in the web page and puts links to them in the HTML
file that gets generated so that when you open it in Internet Explorer, you
can see the original images. You are NOT saving it as a Word document when
you choose the HTML file type. In fact, you can't save a mail message as a
Word document. Where did you get the idea you could? If your message
contains an attachment and the attachment is a Word document, then you can
save the attachment itself as a Word document buty not the message.
