icalendar and unread events

P

Peter

When I attach an ics or vcalendar file to an email a user gets the file and
can open it, saves and closes the calendar event. No problems so far. But
then you look at the unread events and it shows 1 on the calendar. The 1
unread is the event I just opened, read, and saved/closed. If I open it again
the unread is cleared to none.
1. Can you set your calendar (registry or otherwise) to not have the unread
feature?
2. Is there an update that fixes this?
3. It wouldn't be a big deal but I would like to use the calendar attachment
for our Change Management Notifications that are sent out via email. We have
3500 employees and I would hate to have them all with an unread event on
their calendar. Probably generate a lot of calls to the helpdesk.

Our CIO has asked me to find an answer, and our Outlook gurus here can't
figure it out without having to write a macro or something.

Any help/direction is appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter
