I'd like to write music tab for 5 string banjo in word. Any ideas

I'd like to save music in tabliture form for 5 string banjo. SImilar to the
tab used in Guitar pages.

Word is not a suitable tool for tablature notation. No, let me say
that another way: Word can't do tablature notation.

for some alternatives.

If you use another program to write the notation, that program may be
able to export it in a graphics format that you can paste into Word as
a picture. Or you could use a screen capture program such as SnagIt
(www.techsmith.com) to grab the notation from the other program and
paste it into Word -- that is, if for some *word processing* reason
you must have it in Word.
