IE7 and Groove 3.1 Forms not functioning

M

Mark Hulderman

I have a Mobile Workspace for Sharepoint space which points to a Sharepoint
2003 Team Site. On machines that use IE7 the Forms tools do not show content
in the lower preview pane. However, the forms items show in the upper half
list view. In addition, there is no response when either double-clicking on
the form items or clicking on the form items and choosing Edit from the menu.
On machines using IE 6 there is no problem.
I'm guessing there is a setting in IE7 that may correct this.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,
Let me explain this issue to you: Internet Explorer 7 is a new generation of
Microsoft Internet Explorer and there are many functions have been updated or
re-designed for IE7. Meanwhile, please understand that Microsoft Internet
Explorer 7 is still beta version software and it has not been official
published. So up to now, the Groove 3.1 does not completely compatible with
this version of IE. This is a known issue in Groove 3.1 and IE 7. However,
based on my further test, the Groove 2007 can be used well with Internet
Explorer 7.

According to our situation, I would like to suggest that the user need to
downgrade back to IE 6. After that, test this issue again. Is this issue
resolved?

Sara,
The issue does not present itself with IE6. However, I received IE7 as part
of an auto update. I'm not using the beta version.
Because our Sharepoint servers are the 2003 version we cannot use Groove
2007. Besides, Groove 2007 does not support the Mobile Workspace for
Sharepoint. In order for our browser clients to be equal partners in
information sharing, we have teamed Groove 3.1 with Sharepoint 2003. Under
this design, all SPS content and Groove content is shared.

It sounds as if there is no choice but to ensure that all affected clinets
avoid IE7.

Thanks for the reply,
Mark

Sara,
Reverting to IE6 cleared the problems in Groove 3.1.
I will instruct all our Groove clients to avoid the IE7 upgrade as it is
clearly the problem.

How can you say IE7 is still beta when you go to www.microsoft.com it tells
users "it is here install it today". To me that is not beta. The question
is for Groove are there known issues with Groove 3.1a and IE 7? We have
found previous RC builds of IE7 caused issues but what about the final
release of IE7.

I cannot find information on the web or in any of the blogs if the final
release still causes failures in Groove 3.1a.

Hi Mark,

Yes, This is a known issue in Groove 3.1 and IE 7. However, based on my
experience and tests, you can use Groove 2007 and IE7 without any problems.

Hope I have addressed your question.

Groove 3.1x is currently the sole version certified for production with
customers
So, IE7 has to work with Groove 3.1x.
Hope you understand this.
We are not here in an environment where we do marketing and push usage of
Groove 2007 with IE7.
So, I would like you being a "sponsor" to have this fixed (Groove 3.1x and
IE7) as this is an IE7 problem.
Thanks in advance for your understanding

I will also do so to my customers if this is not fixed in the final version
of IE7. In other words, IE7 has to work with Groove 3.1x as it is not a
Groove 3.1x problem (unless technically demonstrated otherwise).
