IE7 Script - ActiveX Blocker

R

Randy Van Sickle

I am redesigning my site and have inserted a flash slide show that I want to
appear on the home page. It works fine in preview, but when I try to open
the file using my browser (IE7), I get a security blocker at the top of my
screen (like a popup blocker notification) that says:

To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage
from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer.

I click on the bar, click on Allow blocked content, and then another message
window comes up with another warning that says:

Allowing active content such as script and ActiveX controls can be useful,
but active content might also harm your computer. Are you sure you want to
let this file run active content? Y/N

When I click yes, it does run the slide show, but I certainly don't want
this showing up everytime someone accesses my homepage.

When I actually publish the same slide show to a test page on my active
site, I do not get the security warnings.

Is this normal for the flash to create a security issue when I am previewing
the file with my browser vs. actually uploading the file to the webserver
then viewing it "live" from the web?

Thanks for any feedback,

Randy

Interesting, so then that swfobject JavaScript embedded helps developers
"fix" this? At least that is what I read. Maybe now to try it on.
