If Character #8 = C

I am trying to take a look at a character nad say if the 8th cahracter is =
to C then how woudl I do it? This is what I have but it is not correct.

=IF(D2 ="???????C?","True","False")

Use the MID function. E.g.,
=IF(MID(D2,8,1)="C","True","False")
