If function and text

I have a list of names and I want to use the IF function
to sort them into categories... for instance if I have a
student database and I all names A-D to say Day 1, E-K to
say Day 2... etc.

The If function seems to only accept numeric tests only?

Hi Katie
When using text in an IF function make sure the text is in
inverted commas.
