IF function help

Cell A1 has a List Validation, (Cast or Steel)
Cell A2 looks at cell A1 and IF A1 = "Cast" then 1.0 shows in cell ,and IF
A1= "Steel" then 2.0 shows in cell.

I think this is simple but I can't get it to work.
