IF FUNCTION

I have a sheet that has two problems on it.

First one is that in line 3, columns d-g-j, if one of these boxes have a
"x" in it then in cell d10 should reflect a dollar amount that reflects the
box the x is in. I've been doing the if function with an error of #NAME?


Second one is that in line line g5 & g6 there are two numbers, I need cell
f6 to read the greater of the two

1. Question: Where is the dollar amoun stored?. If it is stored in row one use
=IF(D3="x",$D$1,IF(G3="x",$G$1,IF(J3="x",$J$1,"")))

2. Question:
=MAX(G5:G6)

In line g5 the number reads 55 & g6 reads 45, I need cell f6 to read the
greater of the two-which in this case would be g5.
