IIS and Server extensions

I am trying to use the search function on a web that I
only want to use offline (I do not want to publish).

I get run time errors when I try to search. I have
installed the IIS and FrontPage Extentions on my machine,
but still get the error.

In the past (using FP98 and NT4.0) I have been able to
perform a search using just my browser with the web open.

Any help would be appreciated.

What are th exact error messages?

Are you browsing the Web site using the http://localhost
or some other http:// URL that points to your machine?

Under Computer Management, Services, is Microsoft Indexing
Service running? (If not, start it, and also configure its
Startup Type to Automatic.)
