IIS screws up WinXP Pro!!

DJ Dave

I have IIS installed so that I can create and edit FrontPage Webs locally.
However, with IIS running I can not access my Windows XP Pro folder
properties, security, or customization settings (i.e. the tabbed window
that come up when right clicking on a directory in Windows Explorer).

Is there a fix anyone can point me to? Any chance MS is working on
this? [It must be a known issue as I was pointed toward this in the
WinXP.General group.]

Thanks,
David

What folder are you trying to change via Windows Explorer, those that are
within a Web (folder) controlled by IIS / FP Extensions?

IIS does not affect those tabs in my installation of WinXP Pro - that sounds
like a repair of WinXP may be called for (something I have never had to do).
However the Security Tab may be not be visible.
From the Windows Help:

To display the Security tab

Open Folder Options in Control Panel.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options.
On the View tab, under Advanced settings, clear Use simple file sharing
[Recommended].

(this check box is at the bottom of the list)
