Ilegal Operation . . . will be shut down - Invalid Pg. Fault

I have a Compaq PC, Windows 98 and Office 2000. I am no
longer able to open Word. When I go to open word I get
the following msg.: "Illegal operation. . . will be shut
down". The details say "Winword caused an invalid page
fault in module winword.exe at 0167:303e4fbd."

I uninstalled Office 2000 and then installed it again. It
did not make the problem go away.

Help!
