I'm blocked from adding to the "Block Sender" list

I routinely add unwanted senders to my "Block Sender" list, but recently I
have started to get mail from senders whose email addresses are in
parenthesis e.g. "Joe Blow"@spam.com. When I try to add this address to my
blocked list, I get a mssage that the address isn't valid. How can I add
these to my blocked senders list--or is there another way around it maybe via
a rule? Thanks for any help you can give me on this.

Adding senders to the blocked senders file is the least useful method for blocking mail since mail can be and often is spoofed or "one-offed" - use a third party spam filter for help - I use SpamBayes available on SourceForge.net - it is free and works very well.

Blocking spam by the sender's claimed e-mail address is just plain
stupid. You really think con men use their real name? Spammers don't
use their own e-mail address. They steal someone else's or make it up
if they even provide one. Every time they spew their crap they have a
different bogus e-mail address. Yeah, go ahead and fill up the 3000
e-mail list with a bunch of worthless e-mail address that will NEVER
stop spam from getting delivered to you.

Get a real anti-spam solution, like SpamPal. Blocking on the e-mail
address is like pissing in the ocean and expecting the sea level to
change.
