I'm confused about: robots content=all

Hi

I want as many search engines to hit a new site as possible.

I have included the following metatag;


<meta name="robots" content="all">

Reading up on this - I am now confused,
does the "all" mean 'all engines will visit'
or does it mean NO STOP - and no engines
will list the site.

Actually what it means is that it is OK for Search Engine spiders to crawl
all content that is included in... and linked from... that page.

I forgot to ask - because it's enclosed in a metatag
does that mean I do not have to have a "text file" in the root?

i.e. robots.txt

Also I'm new to this - is there a simply site that you know
off that will help me start a "text file"?
