I'm getting the error message, "This item cannot be displayed in .

Recently, I've been accessing my .pst files on my main desktop system from a
network-internal laptop (on a wireless network at home). It was all working
fine (except, of course, that I couldn't access the stores from both machines
at the same time.)
For some reason, now, my main machine is having trouble with the pst files.
The messages and the stores all show up as normal, but the messages
themselves will not show in the reading pane. Instead, there is the message:

"This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read
its contents."

Unfortunately, that doesn't help because if I try to open them, I get the
error dialog box, "Can't open this item. Out of memory or system resources."

The desktop has 1GB of ram and even with that being the only program
running, I still get the error, so I can't imagine that's the case.

The strange thing is that my other machine can read the file (and display it
in the reading pane) just fine.

One more hint: I recently had to add the registry key that 'hacks' the
program into allowing me to open attachments of the normally prohibited kind
(*.mdb in this case). I thought that might be what was causing this problem,
so I took it out temporarily to see, but it didn't correct things...

Finally, as I said, the pst files work fine on the other machine and I even
ran scanpst and though it corrected some errors, that still hasn't fixed the
situation. I've even uninstalled OUtlook and reinstalled it, but again, no
help....

Any ideas?
