image file types

I need to know what program to use to change a 'file type' from .tiff to
either .jpeg or .giff. My Pinnacle software will not read .tiff files.

Have you tried double-clicking on the file to see which application you have installed will open the
..tiff (.tif) file?

The problem is not really with being able to open them. It is being able to
open them in Pinnacle's Studio 8 software. It doesn't recognize .tiff files
and so I have to convert the files to either .jpeg or .giff - I know that
when I 'compress them' it makes them usually a .jpeg using Office Picture
Manager - I just wondered if there was another way - other than 'compressing
them'.

Open IE, then drag the file into IE, then copy and paste into Pinnacle.

Anyway, how dose this relate to using FP?

Also have you try contact Pinnacle regarding this issue?

..jpeg just happens to be what Microsofts Picture Manager chooses - but they
seem to come out great - no real reduction of quality - even on a 35"
television! I was shocked - just need to really know if there is 'another
way' to just change the attribute/file type - help!!! pleeeeeze!! lol

You have to open image in a program that understand the TIF file format and then allows you to save
the image in other formats such as JPG, PNG or GIF, etc.

Microsoft Image Composer reads TIFF files.
(MIC came with FP 98 & 2000 I believe).
