Image resolution

When I convert my .ppt slide to a .pdf, it goes from being ~8Mb to being about 1.5Mb. Does this mean that the resolution of my images has been reduced? If so, how can I convert this file without any changes to the resolution?

Also, when I do the conversion to .pdf large white margins appear around the edges. Apart from cropping these off in Adobe Acrobat, how can I avoid this problem?

Thanks

Hi Paul,
The default resolution for saving a slide as PDF is 72 dpi. If your images
are a higher resolution, then they will be reduced. When you are in the Save
As Picture dialog in PowerPoint, you can select the "Options..." button and
set the DPI up to 1600. You can instead define the size, if you wish. In
addition, you could select whether you would like to compress the PDF.

Note that these options are only for saving the complete slides as PDF. They
do not apply to the Save as Picture export feature for individual objects
(which is accessed via the object's contextual menu).
