Image sizes

Elementary question:

What's the best scale of image for projector presentation? 72dpi at screen
size, about 1024x768 pixels (according to the image's proportions)?

I intend to import jpegs, would compressing them mid-scale quality retain
enough clarity and keep memory manageable?

Advice appreciated.

In short...
Forget dpi...think just in pixels if you're only projecting the
presentation.

No need to work the dpi. Keep it minimal at 72. What's more crucial is
the pixel size. Like how big you want to put the image across your
slide. That shall keep the file size to its minimal.
