Help with form controls on publisher web

I have noticed that many people have been helped with their MS Publisher
Website troubles and wanted to ask your help. I am not sure how to use the
forum so I am emailing you directly. I have used MS Publisher to build a
website for my company, after weeks of creation I have published to the web
at www.sonicnorthgeorgia.com with GoDaddy as my host and the entire site
transferred but the graphics do not show up, white empty boxes and the links
do not work. The GoDaddy team is blaming it on the way publisher in handling
the site and the image links are pointing to by C: drive on my home machine.
I have used publisher before and posted other websites in the past but
publisher is not converting to html with the right image library. The website
works great when I view in publisher with web preview. Can you help me, I am
desperate at this point.

Hi Billy I have looked at your site on IE6 on XP and IE7,Safari,Googlechrome,and opera on windows vista and it is all good on them I think it may be the dreaded IE8 problem, I have the same thing I cant get my links and graphics to load on it probably due to grouping issues when I built the site and the fact that IE8 does not recognise the non-standard character sets used by publisher 2003 and 2007. If you have links that are grouped together or images that are grouped try ungrouping them and see what happens. Another thing you should do is create a .htaccess file and copy this script into it AddDefaultCharset ISO-8859-1 then upload to your httpdocs or whichever folder contains your index.htm this will stop the non standard characters showing up as ???? and squares as they do sometimes depending on the format you have used, however I didn't see any on your site so not such a problem for you.

David,

Billy's problem with the links pointing to the C drive was caused by the
fact that he had the navbars and some of the graphics on a Master Page,
which creates problems with a web publication. By not using the Master Page
his problem was corrected.

If you can't get the navbars or any other design element to render when
viewed with IE8, then yes, the problem is 'grouping'. This can be fixed with
SP2 with Pub 2007, and manually with 2003.

Your issue of "non standard characters showing up as ????" is usually fixed
by going to Tools > Options > Web Tab and Changing the Encoding to Unicode
(UTF-8).

I have stopped using Master pages and grouping elements and have managed to get both my publisher sites to render fully in IE8 and all other browsers. Nice tip about the non standard characters David F thanks.
