Images for Link Buttons

S

Shelly

Using 2003 is it possible to import an image(s) to use for a link or
navigation button?

Front Page is new to me so if someone knows of a tutorial that is available
that would be great. We have been using the Citrus Theme and I want to
replace those buttons with a seashell image(s).

I looked in the online Help but found nothing. Thank you for any
instructions.

File Import your images into your FP web (say into the images folder)
Format Theme and, after selecting your default theme thumbnail, select the dropdown for Customize
Select Graphics and then the nav bars (horiz or vert) you want to change and browse to your new images
When done, Save as a new theme name and apply it as the default to all pages
For more customizations of FP2003 themes see
http://sbrenjoy.bizland.com/frontpage/themes/newthemes.html

You can also create custom Interactive buttons from your button images and use them in your pages

Thanks Stefan, but is that all there is to it? Someone here said that the
image(s) have to be the right size and that I might have to import more than
one depending on the Theme.

Your buttons can be any size you want (.gif images)
- most nav bar images are no larger than about 150px wide by 50px high
Normally you can create up to 3 versions of the image for the 3 (normal/hover/pressed) states, but you could just use 1 image for
all states

OK, but here's where I'm now confused. You said, "Normally you can create up
to 3 versions of the image for the 3 (normal/hover/pressed) states". If I
use a seashell how would I create the 3 states? Would I change the color,
use 3 different sizes or shapes? I'm using PSP to edit them if that helps.

Shelly,

Since they're graphics, you can do whatever you want to them. Whatever fits
the design or 'feel' of your site best. The easiest thing to do would be
start with a single graphic for all states. If it doesn't look good or you
feel you need more interactivity, then explore creating alternate state
images.

Me? I'm too lazy for all that and would stick with a single file. ;)

Easiest is to just save the image in 3 different shades (lighter/darker) of your color
