IMAP Folders - AutoExpand on Startup? What about renames/breaks in Favorite Folders list?

Hi all,

Just got a new computer and excited about using Outlook for the first
time. Used it a day and love it so far. (Was using Outlook Express on my
old machine simply because Outlook would have run way too slow). This is
going to make my life much easier! A few things I'd like to do though that
don't seem possible.

1.) For some reason, my IMAP folders (as I like to use IMAP for business
mail in case of a computer crash, etc.) will NOT autoexpand every time I
start Outlook. This is pretty annoying to me and I'd love to find a way to
do it. Is there truly none?

2.) Barring that, I can use the favorites folder at the top for the
important ones. But, my two questions about this are, is there a way to
reanme the folder for the favorites to something a bit more intuitive? What
about inserting breaks so everything isn't grouped all together?

What Outlook can do appears amazing - I'm just a bit surprised by some
of the things I took for granted in Outlook Express that Outlook doesn't
seem to be able to do as well (such as the IMAP folders thing). That aside,
though, liking it a lot.

Thanks much!
Shaun

Outlook does not have a reputation as an exceptional IMAP client.

Folders in your favorites match their name in their storage location. If
you rename it in favorites, it gets renamed in its location as well. If you
need the name to be more intuitive, you can change it, but it will effect
its original place and the view of the folder in favorites. Except the
primary folders like inbox, sent items, etc that you can't change.

I'm not sure about the idea for breaks - you mean separate the folders more
in the favorites list? How many favorites do you have?

Thanks for the great response.

Yes. I only have 7 at the moment, but I'd like to separate them by box.
For example, the first 3 are all folders of our billing address. The next 2
are folders of my personal company address. And the last 2 are folders from
our support address. It's just a bit more confusing all run together like
that - if there was a small break in between, it would be a lot more
intuitive.

On the other hand, the folder separation down below is perfect, except its
always collapsed. It would be great if it autoexpanded, but alas, that
seems like it's not an option.

Even so, I think I'll get a lot more done with this client once I get used
to it and can use the calendar, etc. (Been keeping track of things to do on
a notepad instance up until now). It's just a little annoying that these
tiny (and one would think easy to resolve) issues are making it a bit more
awkward to work with.

There is none.

I don't use the Favorites, so can't answer.

Different target audiences and different programming teams.

Thanks for the info. I'll learn to work around it but these would certainly
be nice features for futures service packs or versions.
