IMAP Issues

Hello there

I have setup my entourage account with IMAP access to my gmail
account.

I am having two issues:
1. When I delete an email from entourage, it does not delete the email
from online gmail account.

2. The labels in my on-line gmail account are not visible on
entourage.

Hi Manish,

That might be the (weird) nature of the IMAP implementation on gMail.
They have a lot of oddities like that.
There might be a setting to auto-purge the trash after a certain number
of days on gMail (but I don't remember the details).
Are you sure the proper trash folder is used by Entourage for gMail??
Did you specify [Gmail] as the IMAP root in your settings?

2. The labels in my on-line gmail account are not visible on
entourage.

Indeed. gMail Labels are non standard and won't go through IMAP. I
believe some plug-ins for other software might be able to take
advantage of them, but that's not a trivial matter.

Gmail Labels show up as folders in Entourage, but then it starts getting
murky. A messages can have multiple labels and will thus show up in multiple
folders in Entourage.

If you don¹t delete properly, Gmail keeps everything in All Messages. Read
Gmail¹s help to learn about the oddities in Gmail IMAP.

Its funny I've been using gmail imap for at least three years and have
never had a problem. plus it is push to my iPhone.

I do have mobileme also but I don't like the me.com. It sounds too
narcissitic.

You’re lucky.
On an iPhone it works fairly well, but it is because Apple has built in
a lot of little tricks specifically for gMail accounts.
