IMAP mail servers

I was wondering whether or not there was a way for me to
directly send a file, after I press delete, to a folder.
Basically what happens right now, is that I get a
strikethrough through the file name, but that doesn't
appear very organized. Instead, what I want is to send all
the files that I've deleted to the deleted folder I've
created whenever I press delete. This is on IMAP, is there
a way to do it?

Thanks,
C

Unfortunately Outlook doesn't support IMAP based "Trash" or "Deleted
Items" folders. You're stuck.

Try View > Current View > Hide messages marked for deletion
(Outlook 2002).

That will hide them, but it won't get the deleted messages into a
"Deleted Folder", nor will Outlook every actually remove the messages
from the server.

I have my IMAP account connected to a Mdaemon mailserver and
there is a option "Delete deleted messages after 1 day".
If I check that option it does, what it promises. Perhaps
your mail server can do the same.

I'm actually a long-time MDaemon admin/user as well. However, I tend to
not push MDaemon too hard since I'm biased, I work for Alt-N providing
MDaemon tech support.

What about Mdaemon? Does that option "push it too hard"?
I've been administering Mdaemon since ver 2.7, and I'm very
pleased wtih it. Mostly because it does what it should, and
causes very little problem.

Sorry, that came out wrong. The functionality works great in MDaemon, I
have all of my MDaemon servers configured with accountpruning (to purge
deleted IMAP messages), without any problems.

I try to avoid saying "MDaemon can do that" whenever somebody asks a
question on usenet unless somebody else brings up MDaemon, especially in
a usenet group dedicated to a mail client vs mail servers.

Go to edit - purge deleted items

This will move all of the strikethrough messages to the
deleted items folder as well as removing them completely
off of the mail server.
