Background:
- I have outlook 2003 with one account configured. This account is an IMAP
account (not using exchange).
- The problem I am about to describe has happen not only to me but several
people in my office.
- Although I say inbox in my problem it isn't limited to the inbox we have
seen this problem with other IMAP folders also.
Problem:
Occationally (1-3 times a week) My IMAP inbox will not show me all my mail
messages for example I will work with my e-mail and everything if fine and
at some point when the problem occurs I will look at my e-mail and I will
either so no messages in the inbox or just some really old message in the
inbox. I do a send/receive it said it completed OK (no errors) I will open
and close the program (no errors) but the inbox still says the same thing
(only lists a few of the message that are really there). If I leave outlook
open and after a long time (2 hours I think - I don't site and watch it)
they magically reappear and all is fine until the next time.
What I think might be happening:
Please forgive my teminology if it isn't technically correct. I describe the
process of IMAP to be where the server hold all the information and what
outlook sees is a cached copy assuming this teminology ------
Outlook will seem to forget it has ever talked with server and has a need to
reset what e-mails it already downloaded and it will startover then get even
more confused and just stop downloding the messages(headers) but since it is
confused it thinks it has done them all (hence the reason for no errors)
also once the error occurs it will not even download new e-mail that have
arrived after the error occured.
Please Help !!!
