Whenever you have display problems involving scrolling, the first
thing is to suspect that the video driver isn't doing its job
properly. Word demands a lot from the video and printer drivers, and
bigger files make it worse.

Visit the web site of your video card's manufacturer and look in the
Support or Downloads section for an updated driver.

If you already have the latest version, try turning down the hardware

instructions.

How do i go about finding out the video card's manufacturer. I am not an IT
savy.

This depends a little on which version of Windows you have. The
following instructions are for Windows XP:

From the Windows Start button, click Settings, click Control Panel,
and double-click System. In the dialog that appears, click the
Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button. Click the plus sign
next to "Display adapters" to expand that part of the diagram.
Double-click the name of the adapter and read the manufacturer in the
next dialog. Click the Driver tab of the dialog to find the date and
version number of the driver you have now.

If the manufacturer does have a later version of the driver that you
can download, it may come with an installer program. If it doesn't
have its own installer, you can come back to this dialog again and
click the Update Driver button to install the new one.
