Import a project and published fields

Based on our methodology, we create a WBS with a CSV-file and convert this
within MsProject Professional (on a local pc) to an .mpp file.

Then we bring this file to the project server disk and import it into the
Project Server. Although a large number of "published fields read/write"
have been defined as default (and also defined in the global template), the
"published fields" remains empty.
We have to select them and set the option wether the user may change them.
This is a tedious job, as ALL our projects go through the stage of
"tailored" methodology WBS and the Programme Office loads them into the
server.

The local MsProject Professional does not reside on the server and cannot
not have specific defined Enterprise fields.

How can we import an .mpp with the correct "published fields".

You need to know the following:

1. When you manually create the .mpp file by converting it from a .csv
file, there is no way to include the list of published fields automatically.
You must do this manually using Tools - Customize - Published Fields in each
one of these converted projects.

2. Specifying Published Fields in the Enterprise Global does not impact any
projects, whether you import the project or create it from scratch within
Project Server. This must be done in each project and in each enterprise
project template.

Since you have moved into the Project Server environment, I am wondering
whether your present process of creating projects is antiquated and no
longer useful in your environment. You folks are certainly going to a lot
more work than you need to do. Isn't there anyway to work initially in the
Project Server environment and to create the enterprise projects using PDS?
Just a thought. Hope this helps.
