Import asking for file repair instructions

A

Art Keating

Hello,

I'm using 2007 to import an Excel file, but when I click finish I ge
two pop ups.

The first warns that the file being opened is in an older format (tha
is correct), asks for permission to continue. I hit 'Yes'.

The second says 'There was a problem opening this project last time. D
you want to attempt a repair (Yes or No)?

If I answer no, MS- Project restarts.

If I answer Yes, MS-Project restarts.

In neither case is the project plan updated with the Excel data,

I have SP-1 and the 2007 Infrastructure update installed.

Thanks for any help

Hi Art,

I'm not sure about the second issue you note, but to stop the prompt
from the first, in Tools > Options, Security, check the option to
allow legacy file formats.

Also, there was a problem with Project 2007 SP-1 and importing Excel
files. It was fixed in the Infrastructure Update released in July.
I don't recall the specific issue you relate below, but it is worth
checking to see if you have the IU installed and if not, install it.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
