Import Contacts From .pst File

I've tried to import a file of contacts that is stored in a pst file, but
I've had some trouble. What are some ways to import contacts from a pst file?

Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the response. I tried the steps below. When I open the pst file,
the active folder in Outlook becomes 'Archive Folders', and none of my
contacts from the .pst file appear (?).

The problem I was having before was with the 'Import and Export' wizard.
Since I cannot see the contacts from the pst file I just opened, I tried the
wizard again. When I get to the point where I need to select the pst file, I
get the following message: 'This Personal Folders File (.pst) is already in
use in the current profile'. Where would it be 'in use'? I cannot see the
contacts from this pst file. This is very confusing.

It sounds like the PST file you're using is in fact one of your archive PSTs
(is it called archive.pst?), and Contacts are not archived. You' need the
actual PST that your content was delivered to in order to retrieve your
Contacts or--in the case of an Exchange server that isn't using PSTs--you'd
need access to your mailbox to export them.

Yes, I had (or thought I had) archived contacts to a pst file. I called it
'Contacts.pst'.

There's a difference between Archiving and exporting. Did you just export
them? The Contacts tab doesn't have an Archive feature, and according to
Microsoft cannot be archived using the Archive feature.

If your Contacts are not in the PST when you go to File -> Open -> Outlook
Data File and expand that folder, then you're going to have a problem. Was
this an Exchange mailbox, or POP3/IMAP?

I archived the contacts. It was an exchange mailbox.

Do you remember the procedure you did to archive them? I want to ensure
that you weren't using Outlook's Archive feature, as that will not archive
Contacts. I'm trying to determine that you're using the term "archive" as
an alternative to "export" or "backed up" rather than the actual Outlook
Archive process.

Did you open the PST after you did this and verified the data was there?
