What type of symbols do you mean, Tom? If they are just images then
they can be copied and pasted into Visio, even into a stencil.

Might be easiest to make a stencil.
menu File -> Shapes -> New Stencil
copy your image and paste into the stencil.
repeat for all images.
save and name as required.
Put stencil where Visio can easily find it.
