import file

Hi, I have all of my personal addresses in an AnyTime file. I have exported
it as a .csv file. I then open Excel and when I try to import it, it says
cannot access "address.csv". this is my personal computer so there shouldn't
be any problems with permission rights. if anyone can help me, I would
really appreciate it. Thanks, Mindy

What happens if you double click on the file? Does it open? Also make sure
you really point a the right csv file, there may be other files around.

If you follow Don's suggestion to first open Excel from the start menu and
then use File|Open, do you still get the same problem? I guess the program
could be locked by some other program or previous instance of Excel. Have
you tried to restart your PC?

What about File|Open? Do make absolutely sure you ioen the right file. If
the csv file doesn't hold any sensitive information, send it to me and I
will see if I have better luck. My exceptionally long email address is
[email protected]

I don't have a guess, but can you open the .csv file in NotePad via File|Open?

If no, it sounds like something is locking that file. (Rebooting usually fixes
that, sigh.)

Can you copy that file to a new .csv file and open that one?

Can you create it again using AnyTime?

Heck, maybe it's Anytime that's locking the file. Have you tried accessing the
file when Anytime isn't running (maybe when Anytime hasn't even been
started???).

I have tried all your suggestions but I cannot open that file. I even
renamed the file but that didn't help either. Does anyone know the software
Anytime Deluxe? That's the program I need the information out of.

Not me, I don't know this program. As I said, if the file isn't personal or
holds sensitive information, you can send it to and I will see if I can open
it.

If you wouldn't mind taking a look at it, I would really appreciate it!
Don't worry, it doesn't have any sensitive information. I'm getting married
next month so I'm trying to export the addresses to help with the envelopes.
What email address should I send the file to?

It seems as if you missed my previous post. Anyway, the email address is
[email protected]
It's getting really late in my part of the world so it will take until
"tomorrow" before I do anything with the file.

gibberish if you open that emailed copy in Notepad/wordpad, too?

Either way, I don't have another guess.

When I do that, it will open up but it's all gobberish.

Hi guys,

I finally got it! Turns out it needed to be a .txt file, not a .csv file.
